"Used to lift a caravan on unlevel ground. The jack moved, twisting the jack's sturdy metal frame, rendering it only partially usable in the future. I haven't taken it back, because I'm sure I'll be told I was using it wrongly !"

Pros: strong, works straight out the box
Cons: heavy
"Perfectly adequate to lift a wheel off the ground on either of our cars (MG and Astra) and seems to have much more to spare. Quite heavy compared to some I have used but then I hope I don't have to carry it far!"

Pros: very good when i knew how to operate the jack
Cons: instructions very detailed but not clear.
"Had major problems getting this jack to work, wouldn't raise at all. In the end took it back to store and they agreed to replace but I insisted they test the new one. This had problems too until the assistant spent 10 minutes pooring over the instructions and we finally managed to get it working. The bar to pump the jack also needs to be reversed and turn a nipple clockwise to seal the vacuum. When this was done it worked perfectly. At home it was used to raise my caravan to change a wheel with no problem. I suggest the instructions are clearer as both myself and the shop assistant had problems understanding what was wrong.
I would have given a higher performance rating if the instructions had been clearer."

Pros: easy to use
Cons: lift height a bit short for my car
"First one was faulty and had to return it. Store out of stock so had to travel much further to another store to get a repalcement. Replacement works fine but now in the light of experience it would have been better to choose one with a higher lift. Can't quite get the car high enough to put on axle stands without blocks of wood under the trolley jack."

Cons: should provide a rubber or wooden pad with it.
"This is a pretty cheap item and it also does the job.
Worked fine with my 3 Series BMW.
Note:
Before you lift the car on the metal round pad, check if you may need to cut a piece of wood or rubber to place between the car and the metal pad. I raised the bottom of my car with just the metal and it digged into the frame!!!"

Pros: ease of operation
Cons: flimsy carrying handle that arrived broken
"Good value, easy to operate and a good lift height. I bought this is to replace one that I bought at Makro over 25 years ago. Amazingly the price was the same. However, the Halfords one appears more robust, and the key for adjusting the hydraulic valve is much more effective than my old one."
