"My 14 year old son bought this cycle with his birthday money. took it to centre parcs for a week end and the gears started playing up, sticking and missing. My husband sorted this out, or so we thought 2 weeks later trouble again.
also this week the rear wheel has buckled after going over quite a small bump. we have only had this bike 2months, my son is very disappointed, after this weekend we are taking the cylcle back to halford."

Pros: fantastic value
Cons: heavy frame
"I bought this bike for my son because of the shorter frame. The frame is fairly heavy and I don't imagine it'd get far off the ground for jumps - however, for general cycling for my 11 year old it's great. He's just got back from a 17 mile trip across Dartmoor with no complaints at all. Having the guys put it together in store ready to go was really appreciated. This bike looks like it will last to be used by all my boys."

Pros: nicely balanced nice looking tough lasted long
Cons: frame now a mess seatpost brakes
"Two and a half years ago I bought my first x-rated dirt bike on a whim because my then more expensive bike had let me down once to often.
I was a bit suspicious of the cheap price and the frame scratched during the first week. I did not expect this bike to last as long as it has, over the two and a half years it needed no major repairs and has been a good, reliable bike. I like its design and find it a nicely balanced and easy to ride.
Some things I don't like: The brakes can be a bit dodgy and need constant adjustment, the seat post is rediculously short and I got a new one, the gear shifters were playing up (but are still working) and the metal retainers on the frame for the gear cables popped off after about one year (I fixed this with cable clips...).
But I have used this bike nearly every day for both commuting and some off-rode fun and it has actually lasted a lot longer than my previous, more expensive bikes!
When the front wheel caved in due to metal fatigue recently I decided to buy a new bike and after some thought I decided to buy another X-rated bike, because I figured that if this new one also lasts me as long, this is money well spend."

Pros: brilliant on and off roader fantastic racer.
Cons: it's very unreliable and very unpredictable
"Brilliant off-roader I was riding this on a bumpy hill in the dirt and even the steepest of hills it was brilliant. Perfect for all weather the tyres are fantastic they provide so much grip on any surface.
There are a few problems though if it gets wet it squeeks very loudly and I have to grease it with WD-40 all the time it can get very dirty through that though. Mines heavily modified but still it's a great bike and very fast.
Theres a few problems with the gears. When I first got the bike I was changing through the gears and always a bit wonky and take time to wear in. I have a problem with the 1st gear on the right-hand side it will never change for me and also when I want to go from 3rd on the left it doesn't change so I have to use 1st to do that and when on the rare occasion I do get it into 1st I have to use 3rd to get it into 2nd. And switching up into 3rd is always 50/50 it either goes up there or doesn't change at all and just rub or my chain gets clogged up through the plastic chainset and then comes off.
In terms of reliability this bike isn't worth it but it's an extremely good racer on and off road and very fast which is brilliant by me. 8/10"
