Pros: great quality, good price, good looks, quite light
Cons: very poor build quality from halfords
"I bought this bike on the strength of the good reviews it had received and Halfords having a price reduction of £100. I got the bike home and later that evening took it out for a little ride, bike felt great until I tried to change into the largest gear at the front. After several attempts to try and change gear I realized the front derailleur would not go far enough over to move the chain, I tried to adjust the cable from the lever but this was jammed and would not move. At this point I took the bike home and had to tighten the gear cable at the front derailleur, and pull the cable adjuster out from the front lever which was pushed right in, I then had to adjust the front derailleur to allow the chain to connect to the large front gear, success, it was now working, unfortunately it was at this point I noticed that the front bar end cap had fallen out from the right side, this is just not good enough. I have had the bike a week now and its now great to ride, but Halfords really need to focus on build quality."

"Great value for money and quality product. The CB Comp MTB looks good, feels light and is enjoyable to ride (not tested yet on any decent off-road activity). Nice frame geometry too: rigid, light, visually pleasing, and I like the fact the cables are all on the downtube, leaving uncluttered top bar. (Tiny detail grumble about use of cable ties though.)."

"Used the bike a few times so far and it seems to be of excellent quality. A low price to start with but when you combine it with the web offers you get a lot of bike for your money."

Pros: nice bike works well.
Cons: rear derallieur cable stop catches shoe.
"Seems to do the job. It's pretty light and the fork seems to work well. Let down by componentry a little bit:
* Shifters aren't quite as positive as Shimano ones tend to be, but they do the job.
* Brakes work well, but there's no pad adjust to change the biting point (just a lever reach adjuster). I get probably about an inch of lever travel before the pads start to bite, which I feel is really too much.
The only thing that really bugs me is that the rear derallieur cable stop on the chainstay sticks out in just the right place to catch your shoe. This is incredibly annoying, especially as a minor change in the line of the chainstay or the position of the stop would fix this entirely. I didn't notice this on my test ride, and if I had I'd certainly have looked at different bikes to try to avoid it."

Pros: light frame, quality components, excellent looks, great price
Cons: none really
"You won't be disappointed if you buy one of these bikes. It looks great, and in this case looks don't deceive. Every component is quality, and it rides well both on and off road."

"picked the bike up saturday, straight home and straight out.
no downside at all, good on roads, trails and i imagine anything you throw at it.
smooth and quick gear change through all cogs
light weight, strong and very fast.
Cannot say anything bad about the bike and also Lester at Pontefract, great advertisement for Halfords, knowledgable, pleasant, and went out of his way to explain everything.
It was a choice between a Cube Analog and the Boardman Comp, spec said Boardman, although friend said Cube and scoffed at Halfords, Have ridden both and made the right choice.
Take Halfords how you find them, not what the forums say, and remove the snob value from buying a bike,"

"Quality product. Light wieght. I cycle 100 miles a week and don't notice it. Gear changes are very smooth.
Tyres are perfect for road and tow paths ,but I would change them for more off roading.

Pros: well equipped mtb
Cons: cable rub on fork
"Iv'e been looking to change my mtb for a while so i have been doing a lot of research and kept coming back to a boardman comp. Its just such a well specked bike compared to the competion its a great frame whtch i believe they us on the team and pro mtb so as things wear out i will just upgrade to how i want it. I go off road a fair bit and it takes everything you throw at it the 120 air fork performs very well for a budget fork so i'm not going to upgrade until it wears out. The only advice i would give is put some frame protection tape on top of the fork because the first ride out the brake cable rubbed the paint off the top or the fork but that is a small gripe for what is an outstanding bike for the price"

Pros: comfort, gears, brakes, handling, weight
Cons: tyres
"Just adjusted the saddle and away I went on a 25mile off-road single track course in Scotland with my 15 year-old son. The brakes, gears and comfort were superb, only the wet, muddy conditions caused the odd side-slip and rider spillage...no harm done. Awesome experience compared to my older bikes."

Pros: good level of kit for the money
Cons: saddle uncomfortable
"With some help from the Llantrisant Halfords team, I selected and purchased my bike around a week ago.
After two rides I can find no faults and am extremely happy with my choice.
Apart from changing the saddle for comfort, the bike has out-performed me but I'm fast catching up.
I would like to say a special thanks to Martin at Halfords and the Llantrisant bike team for all their help."

"So far this bike has lived up to its reputasion it is light but tough and the gearing on it is a match for any hill. I have found it very easy to get to grips with all the controls on the bike without to much bother. It is just the best MTB that I have had and would recommend it to any one who is looking for a good all round bike."

Pros: good frame, nice design (bike)
Cons: uncomfortable saddle, cheap and nasty pedals
"Having looked at several MTB's in a couple of local bike shops, I soon decided that the 2011 Boardman Comp Mountain Bike was well priced against other similar mainstream manufacturers. Plus points are; a well designed and light frame with fairly good components. The saddle and pedals will soon be replaced (saddle is fairly uncomfortable). Otherwise I am very pleased with the bike."
