"Got mine today and installed it myself. Very easy as I already had an amp and just had to replace the wires. Goes perfectly with my RipSpeed DV720. Love the quality and the remote bass controller. This is a lot of bass for a bargain price. If you want to be heard and turn heads... get this. However, you can say goodbye to your boot space. Not a probem for me as I love BASS !!!"
"Sound: My first impression is what you’d expect from a double enclosed 450 RMS fusion subwoofer: It’s loud. In fact, it’s very loud, probably on the verge of dangerously loud. I would recommend having earplugs handy for any passengers that do not wish to damage their hearing through the excessive bass reproduction created through this subwoofer.
At high volumes, this subwoofer will make your car bounce, along with the ground around you even whilst in transit. (Or so I’ve been told).
Overall, the quality of the sound is pristine and crisp at low volumes and very crunchy when on boost which is just the way we like it.
Durability/Quality: The Fusion RE-PK2120 is big and relatively heavy and in that respect it won’t need securing (unless you have a lot of boot space). Its heavy duty and I suspect it will withstand heavy punishment (though I wouldn’t want to hit it with a hammer to test this theory) and it’s carpeted to fit in with its surroundings.
Looks: With the Fusion RE-PK2120, size matters and this subwoofer will probably dwarf all of your friend’s subwoofers, finally shutting up that annoying friend who thinks he has the best sound system around. Fusion have really gone out of their way to make the Subwoofer look as good as it sounds.
Installation: As a first time owner of a sub and amp, I found the installation fairly easy. The instructions provided where clear and precise and with the correct tools at hand installation shouldn’t take more than an hour for someone who has never done it before. Without a doubt the hardest part is finding a location to run the wire from your battery through your car and then to the amp. You may have to drill holes in your car chassis for this which becomes the most complicated part.
This does not matter to you if you have it fitted by a specialist.
Value: At first I couldn’t believe the price stated on the halfords website. I thought there had been a miscalculation somewhere, but never the less I checked it out and believe me, true to the halfords motto the price you see is the price you pay for this package. At £129.99, it’s a bargain. This package is £200+ at various other sites on the Internet. Search for yourself!
Conclusion: The Fusion RE-PK2120 is worth its buck. You’re getting a lot of boom for £129.99, and the sound quality is superb as you would expect. The obvious trade-off is boot space versus volume, but of course you must be conscious of this before purchasing. If you have little-to-no use for your boot then it’s definitely worth it, otherwise you’ll be putting your shopping on the rear seats. Before ordering, take measurements on your boot and make sure it will fit!
The amp isn’t complicated to work which is a blessing to people who have no idea what they’re doing.
As a side notes, I would advise having a good pair of speakers to get the most out of your subwoofer. If you have a pair of rubbish speakers then the bass will cloud the music at high volumes. The obvious answer to that is to not put the bass so loud, but that wouldn’t be so fun would it :)"
