"Got this at half price so was well pleased with that. Ben and Dave at the Rochdale store were really, really helpful and spent ages showing me how it went on and giving advice. They also said I could go back with the bikes loaded if I wanted it checking before travelling anywhere... how's that for great after-care service. They really knew their product well, I was impressed. A big thankyou to them."

"great vaue for money. A little tricky to set up first time, but once it is set up it goes on and off the car in 2 minutes even single handedly and a mere woman! As it is a high mounted carrier, it is a little awkward to lift adult bikes up onto the carrier due to size and weight, but I managed it on my own. Fantastic quality for the money."

"Never reserved something from online before and when I noticed that Halfords were selling a bike rack for such a great price I had to reserve it and collect it before they were all picked up!
Instructions were easy to follow and within 20 minutes the bike rack was up and ready to be fitted to the car."

Pros: easy to fit, notail light board required, can get into boot no bikes on it
Cons: straps that are supplied are to short for mtb
"Very easy to fit and you can get into your boot once fitted (unlike other bike carriers) as long as the bikes are not on it that is. Can take three road bikes but I think it will be tight for three mountain bikes unless one is a kids bike. The straps that come with it could do with being longer as. It is more expensive than the basic one but its money well spent and it fits my Peugot which the basic one does not."

"Putting it together was a bit of a struggle - the main frame is assembled but you have to adjust it to fit (which is tricky and took two people) and add straps (which can be awkward). Actually fixing it on to my car (Skoda Fabia Estate) is not possible on my own, but considering I got it half price, it more than does the job, once it's on the car. The instructions aren't the clearest or most helpful."

"It does what it says on the tin.
However For the first time allow about 2 hours to get it right.
Follow the instructions but you may need to change the straps for the top and bottom depending how high you set the carrier as the lower straps might not reach to the underside of your car
Ensure you tighten and RE-TIGHTEN AS YOU PUT EACH BIKE ON AS THE CARRIER CAN MOVE / GET LOWER AS THE WEIGHT INCREASES
Remember to start earlier than you plan to as this will ensure happier kids and wife!"

Pros: high mount-does not block numberplate, adjustable to any car, flatpacks when not in use
Cons: ratchet straps much too weak, design of toothed hubs not ideal
"I found that, while the Halfords Rear High Mount 3 Cycle Carrier is quite a good choice for carrying two bikes around, I found that putting one childs, and two adults bikes on it stretched the engineering tolerances of the design of the unit too close to its limits.
Unless you tighten the toothed wheels as tight as you can from the outset, it is possible that they will spring apart, or get damaged once the weight of the three bikes is on the frame.
The rachet straps are not fit for purpose, and I have replaced them with heavier duty types. One broke on first tightening.
I would seriously recommend not putting three adult bikes on this type of frame, I don't think it would be up to it, unless they were ultra-light expensive racing types, not the two commuter hybrids and childs mountain bike I have.
I think Halfords should put more warnings on the packaging, and on the website, I do not know of anyone who has the facilities to weigh their bikes, and this means everyone is working on a guesstimate for the tolerances.

"Having never used a cycle carrier before I was worried that it would not be up to the task or would fall off! After first use, I'm pleased to say that there were no problems at all. The instructions were clear and the fitting was simple. After jigging around to get the best fit for the bikes, they were held firmly in place. Great product - no problems."

"I bought this rack to carry just one bike (to start of with) on my MkV golf.
Fit was straight forward although there don't seem to be solid fixings within reach on the underside of the car, tere are a couple of holes on the bottom of the bumber which do the job.
Fixing the bike was simple and all was solid and non shaky for the duration of the journey.
In use, the bike is in your rear view but by no means blocks what you need to see."

"Only lasted 3 trips on a zafira, on the 3rd trip the carrier would not stay on securely when the bikes were placed on it. The attachments scratched the car and I believe it was the strap grips/catches that failed....carrier had been fitted and demonstrated by halfords own staff.....so here I am having to buy another carrier :("
