"This is the first time I have used clipless pedals and having now got used to clipping in and out (yes I have had a couple of embarrassing slow falls!) I wouldn't want to go back to the clips and toe straps as the power goes on the pedals in a much more controlled way. An entry level pedal but I am not sure why you would want to spend more for a few grams lighter."

"As a novice road cyclist, i wanted something at the cheaper end but not too cheap. Shimano is a trusted name and i also bought Shimano shoes so they could go together. Easy to install, easy to adjust the tension to the shoe. Worth a try."

"These are a good solid pedal. I have had many pedals over the years. The wide base makes locking in easy and fast. If you don't click in first time the pedal still allows for you to get a few turns in so you can a least build up some momentum and lock in when you are going fast enough to focus on the pedal, but like anything the more you use it the more efficiently you find the sweet spot.
On the negative, they are on the heavy side and although they are weighted so they remain in the right position to lock into, my set are somewhat stiff and don't allow the heavy base to drop down. That being said its not a massive issue."

"the pedals are great and make the difference when on longer cycles, noticable so.
This was my first times using these type of pedals so was a litte dubious to having my feet strapped up to the bike,(face meet road) but this didn't happen, takes a little practice but you soon get used to using them. practice against a wall first.
these pedals are great, would recomend, I am cycling around 30/40 miles per week and these pedals help."

"I decided to purchase these when I took my Virtuoso in for it's 6 wel service. I had read all about the benefits of using these types of pedals. I found these and they were on offer, so thought why not and they are a good make. I would highly recommend these. People panic about falling off, but just unclip if you are unsure and clip back in if not needed. Have not fallen off bike using them. They look good as well. Highly recommended."

"These are at the lower end of the Shimano range but for a beginner wanting some clipless pedals they seem to be perfect. I have paired them with some Shimano road shoes and the lock onto my shoes is strong but also easy to remove. I have managed not to fall over wearing them - unlike my old toe clips. These are single sided but are weighted to fall into a easy to use angle and only once in the first 5 rides have I had a problem.
For a newbie they are a good introduction to clipless road pedals - not suitable for mountain bike shoes."

"I should have bought these ages ago, very good pedals. I ride to work most days doing about 16 miles round trip and they have shaved at least 5mins off my ride. Easy to fit and to use,and easy to adjust. I use them on a hybrid bike, and plus they do look stylish compared with the usual pedals.Very good entry pedal indeed"

"My first time using clip in pedals, and not as scary as I thought. These pedals have tension adjusters on the back so you can make it easier to get out of them when you need to. Easy to fit and look great on the bike. As a result my MPH speed increased on my timed 30 mile ride as they make you more effecient. Would recommend to anyone."

"My first SPD pedals but so far I haven't fallen off! Easy to fit and have found clipping in pretty easy. Only very minor grouse is that these would appear to be designed as MTB (ie 2 cleat) pedals rather than road"
