Pros: excellent frame, a joy to ride, good brakes Cons: minimal suspension adjustment
"I've taken this bike out almost every day since I bought it two weeks ago, and I'm very impressed.
The only feature I'm missing on it is the ability to lock or stiffen the suspension. When climbing hills on the road, I can feel the suspension absorbing a lot of my pedalling energy. There is an adjustment for the suspension stiffness, but it doesn't do much."

Pros: looks, suspention, brakes, great brand of bikes, great quality Cons: gears noisy, disks rub slightly
"i have a carrera hybird, but since i go to hamstely forest alot and mainly off road, i decided to purchase a new bike. my obvious choice was another carrera so i looked at the vulcan and the price and decided to just go for it. i have used it on the loop at hamsterly and also on the red route and it was perfect. at speeds its a great bike and the suspention is fantastic. if your unaware you can change it for road use or off road. overall for the price its a great buy at £299. wait for it to be in the sale though, we all need 20% off. i rang bishop up and within 15 mins they had my bike ready."

Pros: good gears and brakes Cons: shocks could be a little better
"I was looking for a good beginner bike to get into mountain biking. I'm still very new but this bike does a really nice job! Its average weight with a good set/brand of gears and the brakes do a great job for mechanical disc brakes.
The tires that come with this bike are very good too, nice and thick and better than tires on some more expensive brands.
If you're wanting to get into some biking and don't want to spend lots to see what its like, go for this!"

"I researched what was on the market around £300 and decided on the Carrera as it is a good quality machine and had good reviews off previous buyers. An added benefit was the 20% off from Halfords. I am not dissapointed, quality sturdy machine and a good ride."

"had a carrera,rode it to the moon and back.the bike just wore out,bought a kona,nice bike,but missed my carrera.sold the kona,put money to new vulcan +xtra 20%of never looked back.yes the sadle is rocky 6,but the bike overall exellent."

"After researching amongst many websites, the common theme was that the Carrera Vulcan was the best mountain bike available for the price of around £250-£300. Essentially, it outperformed mountain bikes worth £500+ in many cases. After buying this bike, I am inclined to agree. It really is a great bike. I have used it to cycle around the hilly dirt path tracks of my local woods and it copes impecably well. The best part of this bike is the suspension. It works an absolute treat and I really can tell the difference compared to other bikes of this price.
If you are looking to get your first foot on the mountain bike ladder, I would definitely buy this bike. You may only want a mountain bike for general purposes, but I have friends who have purchased cheap low-end bikes and only end up having to buy another bike due to the poor quality. Do yourself a favour, buy this bike first and you won't be coming back for repairs on a regular basis. In the medium term it makes financial sense, plus you get a good bike."

"Bike was purchased on line and once arrived we took to the local Halfords shop where it was assembled free of charge as part of the first free service. Bike build quality is good and initial comments are its also good value for money, time will tell."

"I Was riding my sons bike to work, it had a rear spring and dampened front forks. It was uncomfortable and the sprung frame absorbed most of the effort I put in. At work we adopted the Cycle to work scheme so I saw an opportunity to get a better bike that was also more to my likening. This bike ticked all the right boxes, it looks good and it looked to be a nice build. It didn’t disappoint! No rear spring and front adjustable forks meant all my effort was transferred to the road and not the bike but as I liked going of road as well I could change the settings and have a smooth of road experience. I am no expert but I would recommend this bike to anyone."
