"The TOPEAK pannier rack costs a bit more than other racks on the market BUT what you get in return is an extremely well designed and well made product - far superior to other racks that I looked at.
The quick release system allows you to securely fasten the luggage onto the rack without the need for messing around with bungee cords and Velcro straps. Releasing the bag is as simple as pushing down the yellow button and sliding it off the rack. It really is as easy as that.
I would really recommend the MTX quick release pannier rack and luggage even though it is more expensive than other alternative products. The quality is so good I have no doubt that this will last me years and cheaper options are unlikely to either perform as well or last as long. Buying TOPEAK makes sense and you will NOT be disappointed."

Pros: the sturdy build and ease to fit
Cons: silver fixing stays should be black to match rack, stays could have been more flexible to fit
"Comes up as a more expensive item but the build and fitting was very good and straight forward. Silver stays could have been shaped better to allow more flexible fixing and for matching the rest of the rack would have been better if these were in black. Instructions were clear and all bolts to allow fixing to the bike were included in the kit, fitting the stays was fiddly but would depend on the actual bike make. If you have a high mudguard fitted you will need to be aware this has to be removed, whilst the product spec advises this rack has a built in splash protector it doesn't do the exact same job as a mudguard."

"Have had my rack since 2003, used it for touring and for day trips in South Africa, Canada, US, & Europe. Has given me no problems at all -- fits perfectly, suffers in silence when it gets banged about. Accepts my Arkel T-42 rear panniers in 2-3 seconds-a-side, and tents, trunks, etc, secured via bungees on the top. Test of its quality is that I never think about it."

"Easy to fit. I don't really understand other people's comments about being worried about bending the mounts so much that they'd snap! I did have to file down the bottom of the support struts because they fouled the quick-release fasteners on the axle. Maybe that was just my frame, though. putting the mudguard/rack tapping too close to the axle."

"Bought this for use on my daily commute, decided to discard my Rucksack and go for mounter luggage (purchased a Topeak Trunk Bag DXP at same time)
Rack is very good, looks well on the bike, very strong with side frames for panniers / drop down panniers as I have. Easy to fit. Good quality, Was also 20% off so got at a good price."

"I just purchased one of these for my Carerra Transport folding bike as the rack on it was so small that both my panniers would hit my feet hilst pedalling!
I chose this as I knew I'd be able to bend the silver supports downwards to fit the mounts on my folding bike. It fitted perfectly.
I've also had the same rack on my commuter for about 8 months now and it's worked perfectly on that with Altura Night Vision pannier and the Altura Laptop Briefcase (both use Rixen Kaul fixings) and I have the bike hut rack pack on top for my lock, tool kit and waterproofs), it's lasted well on there although the bolts have rusted a little.
There is a fitting at the back for a reflector/light, I found the best solution was to bend one of the side tabs of this panel out 45 degrees using a pair of pliers; ditching the tube half of my led light mount (leaving the light clip and the nut and bolt) and attaching that to the bent tab."

"This fits around my 700C wheel and mudguard fine with room left over. It works great with my Topeak DXP bag and has taken a lot of weight without any noises or other problems over the few months I‘ve had it.
As some people have said, you will need two small nuts to fasten the supporting arms to the side of your bike frame, unless they are already screwed in there waiting which they were on my bike. The arms are very close to my brake parts and are a bit obstructive when trying to unfasten the brakes, although not seriously.
When fitting the supporting arms to the rack, make sure to check as best possible the length you’ll need to fasten them to the bike frame to make the rack horizontal. The arms are segmented and this limits adjustments once the screws are in so you might otherwise end up starting again; this is not shown in the instructions."

"The Super Tourist DX comes with packaging that claims that it has universal fittings for any bike. To fit it correctly on my bike (Appollo code) I would have had to put the horizontal supports either through my brakes or twist them in circles.
I did however get them on with a bit/a lot of initiative involving a funny screw, some plastic tubing and an old light mount...
Looks good and works well but can be a bugger to fit so beware!"

"brought this to add panniers to ease the weight on my back when commuting. found it very easy to fit and looks good. its great combined with the top peak bags which i brought they just slide on and click and there solid no flapping about when your moving. its a bit more expensive but its worth it as i found it better quality than cheaper ones."
