"This product does everything you want from a Tom Tom. It has great picture quality, sound and great directions. However the product would be improved if it had a good bag to carry it in because the box is inadeqaute. In addition, a detailed manual would improve the product as well."

"Great SatNav with quality large screen. Sound quality is also good no matter what speed you travel at. Fixed windscreen mount is a little annoying as it prevents it fitting properly in the TomTom Universal Carry Case."

"Apparently TomTom only work with Intel Macs, which I have and it still won't open the software, so although the Satnav itself seems good, its not much use if you can't update the 'lifetime' maps. Very disappointed with the TomTom support, slow to respond and no-where on the box or point of sale do the warn you of updating via Mac. Get it sorted TomTom!!! I will be buying another make now, Not happy."

"I really do like tomtom sat navs and having had a tomtom go 720 for the last 5 years I was really impressed with the product, however it started to look a bit tired and the maps were getting a bit out of date, so I decided to treat myself with a new one. I use my sat nav on a daily basis.
Well the Start 25, really does have some good features, but to be honest it's no use promoting them as the unit has a major flaw and it wasn't untill I read up on the tomtom forum I realised its not an individual fault it's all the Start 25's. the volume is not loud enough, I mean its reall quiet, so quiet in fact I can't even drive with the radio on! I contacted tomtom but they suggested I do a factory start!!! Useless... It's 2 days use and now it's stuck in the cupboard, I'm sticking with my old go 720......save your money...... Don't buy one!"

"for the best price shop around first,the sat navs works well even if you go off course it then finds you and recalulates the route again nice clear directions even if you go over the speed limit it indicates with a red bar some speed limits doesnt show up,i would recomend any one who doesnt have a satnav yet to buy it .one thing that does let it down is in the box there are no instruction on how to use it.setting up the satnav is really simple it take a couple of second and away you go"

"I would just like to start by saying I read most of the other customer reviews for this product and had mixed feelings. However, taking everything into account I came to the following conclusion. Its main competitor sells almost the same number of types of sat nav as TomTom. The price range is almost the same, so what was the deciding factor for purchasing a TomTom? The number of other customer reviews for this product. There was over double the number of reviews for this product than its competition equal. This meant it must be a more popular product.
Having said that, what about the TomTom Start 25?
The screen is big and clear, the information at the bottom of the screen is clear. All I wanted it for was to get me from here to there and back again. That is exactly what it does. There are lots of other features that I don’t use all the time, but I know they are there if required. There aren’t any other features I need so it actually does more than expected.
The one feature I am impressed with is the Longitude and Latitude facility if it can’t find a postcode. Ok you might have to go on the internet to find this information, but I feel it is more accurate than postcodes.
So far there haven’t been any download or lost satellite signal issues.
All in all I am pleased with it and look forward to using it for a long time to come."

"The device is nice looking, easy to use and set up. You just have to take it out the box plug it into a PC with an internet connection and set it all up.
Using it is simple enough, the suction pad on the back to connect it to the window is on a hinge and ball socket which means it can be angled easily after you have stuck it to your window.
I had a few problems with the final destination when using post codes but I wouldn't blame that on the device as it's more of a GPS mapping problem which isn't specific to this device.
The one bug I did have is the alarm for when it thinks you are speeding, it's defaulted to on and very loud, but the worst part is that when driving on teh motorway I found that it was telling me that various sections were 50mph, when it was still 50 so it thought I was speeding and the alarm was going off on it for about 10 miles and you can't turn it off easily / safely when driving. This was due to speed limitations put in place when the motorway had works on it which have not been updated.
It's also not that clear how you search using street names as there's no obvious option, but you can do it sometimes, but it will usually come up with a city or town name instead.
Overall a very good device for the price, with a few little bugs which can be overcome by adjusting the settings and basically working out how it works."

Why did the manufacturer of this product decide to put the on/off button at the back of the unit?
Battery power only lasts for 1-2hrs as opposed to 6hrs on Garmin's sat navs.
The power cable connector is at best...fiddely.
The rest of the features are fairly rudimentary.
Garmins a better product.
Tom Tom on i-phone is even better.....I wish I had known this before purchasing Tom Tom at Halfords.....My "Start 25 Western Europe" will be available on a famous auction site very soon!"

"Bought for my husband who has always been "anti" Sat Navs. He has used it a few times and so far is quite impressed. I love the large clear screen and the way it tells you the actual road number you are turning onto. My husband pointed out it warns you when there is a speed camera sign and not an actual camera (unless we haven't set it up correctly). It's still early days in using it but I am pleased I chose this one - I have to say reading the previous reviews did help. I think I can say we've been converted!"
