"Does everything expected, and very much cheaper than buying an exercise bicycle.
Can be used in all weathers, and gives a full workout without the elements, so one has no excuse to start a fitness programme.
The ability of increasing the tension is a usefull feature.

"I spent quite a while looking for a trainer that could be used easily at home.
The Halfords Mag machine seemed to fit the bill.
I was not disappointed and found it very straight forward to assemble. It is very well made with high quality materials giving a first rate riding experience. I would suspect that it will give many years of use. I soon realised I should change my off road tyres for road ones, which cuts down noise considerably. All in all I am very happy and my training regime is now on track!

Pros: great value works well
Cons: none as yet
"Tried to purchase an entry level cycle trainer today. Two local stores were not helpful, wouldn't let me try before buy.
The guys at Putney Road branch here in Leicester were brill. They built one up in the shop while I waited and put a bike on it for me to try. The staff at this branch were a credit to Halfords.
As for the product, I've only just started using it today and it seems ideal for my purpose. Easy to set up and with the money I saved I fitted a speedo and cadence computer.

"Very happy with this trainer so far - very stable and works as described. I have a couple of minor tips for non-DIYers like me when assembling it. Loosen the axle support before trying to apply the handle - I pushed the handle onto the plastic securing thing and wondered why it wouldn't turn. Also check whether your quick release is compatible with the support cups on the trainer before lifting the bike in position. If it's not, just change it to the one supplied. Took me a while to work that one out! Otherwise, assembled it without difficulty."

"The MOST AMAZING peice of equipment...having been seriously ill for 17 months, i bought this item to start me off, indoors, inthe warm and with no hills.
Not very clear instructions but i managed it, if i can anyone can.
Best thing ive ever bought, not too noisy with semi-slick rear tyre, argos catalogue to lift up the front wheel and away i went, feels so good to be active again"

"I bought this as I am recovering from an injury, and wanted a good value trainer. Previous reviews stated that it was easy to assemble, I found the opposite. You have to be strong to connect the handle, and brave as it needs a stong push and it feels like its going to break as your pushing!
Once is assembled it works really well and the resistance is strong (but that may be because Im weak!). Only slight disadvantage is that it is quite noisy. I have set it up to watch TV on laptop while cycling, and on full volume I struggle to hear it

Pros: solid build quality, straightforward setup
Cons: noise with mtb tyres
"I've used this trainer a few times with MTB tyres and whilst it is effective, it is very noisy. I expect if I changed the tyre on the bike it would be quieter but as I've currently got it setup it is still fairly intrusive if you're around other people.
The setup is very straightforward and once the bike is in place, it is rock solid.
A few other reviewers have suggested something to elevate the front wheel. I found the Yellow Pages did the trick.
Overall, considering this is at the budget end of cycle trainers, it's a good product which I would recommend."

"This turbo trainer is a good product. Easy to use and set up. Works with any bike as the wheel bearing piece is quite wide. I use it with a road bike and it's not too noisy.
The only problem I had was with the provided quick release skewer-poor quality and broke when I first used it. Bought a tacx skewer specifically for turbo trainers instead.
Perfect for a novice like myself. Can't comment on how good it is for more keen cyclists."

Pros: well made
Cons: poor set up instructions
"I purchased this because I needed to do some some training whilst the weather was bad. This piece of equipment fits the bill exactly Slight issue with the set up instructions, but through looking at pictures of the item set up it was easy to set up. I have got a quick release wheel on the rear of my road bike and it fits OK. There is a different quick release spindle included in the package to replace your original one if it doesn't fit."

Pros: easy to set up, easy to store
"Really good trainer I got this as I wanted to exercise on a real bike, really easy to set up I a 33 yr old woman and it took 10 mins at the most. Using a standard tread wheel is a little noisy but nothing a little music or TV can't drown out I can talk to someone over the noise so its not that loud. Ideal for exercising wet days or if like me you have 3 kids so you can't just go cycling. The magnetic resistance is very good you can change the settings from 1 - 5 and you can also use the gears on your own bike. So overall I'm a happy bunny as I got it half price too :-)"

Pros: price
Cons: no front wheel riser support
"I wanted a second Turbo Trainer for home to supliment the one I use in the Works Gym and at the offer price this fitted the bill perfectly. I use it almost exclusively for Interval Training and it works a treat. With a combination of gear choice and resistance setting I quickly found a smooth set up that works well and with the rough finish on the roller get no slip when out of the saddle for the initial spin up. Overall very pleased but be aware you will need to make or buy a front wheel riser support as it's not included."

Pros: easy to use and control, stable
Cons: punctures rear tyre when left overnight.
"Bought in the sale - good price. Assembly is fiddly but not difficult. The trainer works as advertised and the magnetic resistance device does the job. It is easy to control from the handle bars. The only down side is that I left the roller against the rear tyre overnight and I ended up with a flat.
The inclusion of a steel skewer for the rear wheel is useful and I would recommend that you use it.
