"This an excellent tool chest and very good value for money when purchased as a 'deal' with the roll cabinet. There is plenty of storage space although the drawers could do with being very slightly deeper.
However, I would strongly recommend that you check the item over thoroughly at the store before purchasing. The first one I had was twisted and the lid didn't sit square on the tool chest. The second looked as though it had been dropped whilst still in its box and was dented and broken. That said, Halfords didn't quibble about exchanging the tool chest for an undamaged item.
I also agree with other reviewers that it's a shame that Halfords don't sell an intermediate box.
To summarise, I would say that it's a good quality product but check that what you purchase hasn't been damaged during packing / transportation."

"Great top box need an intermediate box in this range as previously mentioned. Mine arrived damaged quickly resolved at local store.Looked like someone had stood on the box resulting in a crease at the top of the first drawer,if the bottom drawer appears stuck watch for this."

Pros: generous depth of unit
"Purchased this at sale price with bottom chest. Great quality and excellent value. Would definitely recommend. One of it's main advantages is it's generous depth which gives you a lot more storage space over the smaller units. Drawers pull all the way out and are very smooth. Good locking system without the need for fiddly locking bars just make sure drawers are pushed in and turn the key."

"as far as tool chests go, this is by far the best value for money.
as mentioned many times, the quality is brilliant, and the drawers are nice and smooth even when fully loaded.
this will always be a brilliant tool chest as far as im concerned, my only draw back is its not big enough anymore even with the cabinet below.

HALFORDS - you really need to bring out an intermediate chest for this, i think it would be a big hit for those looking for a little more space as upgrading to a bigger box of the same quality comes with a ridiculous price tag that for someone at a DIY level might not be able to justify."

Pros: very good quality drawer action even when loaded, looks very nice
"Very good quality box, comparable with those that cost more than triple the price. The drawers open with a lovely smooth action even when heavily loaded. I got this with the matching bottom cabinet and you get 2 keys with each item that are the same, so thats 4 keys but the key can open both the top and bottom cabinets. The drawers also come with rubber mats and these are good as it stops your tools rolling around or moving when you open or close the drawers fast.
Something to bear in mind: you need to open top lid after you unlock the cabinet before you can open drawers, but then you can put lid down.
You could even happily use this item everyday in a commercial garage are it is very strong and hard wearing."

"This tool box is a great acconplishment to the larger tool chest in this range, it sits nicely on top.

"I recieved this top box free when I bought the main roller cabinet and I couldnt be happier, just like the cabinet the top box is very well constructed and looks like it will last me many years. I've used various makes of chests and these are definately of comparable quality to the top brands but remain at a fraction of the cost. Nice one Halfords!!"
